Who We Are

We are It Runs Fine, an independent game studio based in Melbourne, Australia.

What We Collect

We collect different information depending on how you use our site:

Site Analytics (Matomo, self-hosted)

  • Pages viewed, time on page, and link clicks
  • Browser, device, and operating system information
  • IP address data that is anonymised before storage
IP Anonymisation is enabled for analytics. We mask part of each visitor's IP address (for example, replacing the final bytes with zeros) before saving analytics data. This reduces the likelihood that analytics data can identify an individual.

Mailing List (Newsletter Sign-ups)

If you subscribe to our mailing list, we process:

  • Email address
  • Name (if you provide it)
  • Full IP address and user agent at the moment of subscription (for anti-spam/security and consent records)
  • Subscription status, timestamps (e.g., subscribed/unsubscribed/confirmed)
Mailing list sign-ups: When you subscribe, we record your full IP address and browser details at that moment. This helps us prevent spam and keep a record of your consent. Unlike analytics, these details are stored in full, but they are kept securely and never shared.

Why We Collect It

Analytics
To understand site usage, improve performance, and plan content. We do not sell or rent analytics data, and we do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking.
Mailing List
To send newsletters and updates about It Runs Fine and our games (e.g., Red Harvest); to manage your subscription (confirmations, unsubscribes); to prevent abuse (spam/fraud); and to maintain consent records. We may track aggregated metrics such as opens/clicks to improve communications.

Legal Bases

  • Consent: for sending you emails after you subscribe to the mailing list.
  • Legitimate Interests: for site analytics (with IP anonymisation), security, and preventing abuse of our services.

Cookies

Matomo may set first-party cookies to improve measurement accuracy (for example, to distinguish repeat visits). These cookies do not track you across other websites.

Unsubscribing from the Mailing List

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Clicking it immediately stops further mailings to that address. You can also email us at hello@itrunsfine.com to request removal.

Data Retention

  • Analytics: We retain aggregated reports and periodically delete old granular logs. IPs used for analytics are anonymised before storage.
  • Mailing List: We retain your email and subscription records until you unsubscribe or request deletion. For security/consent logs (e.g., subscription IP, user agent), we keep those for up to 24 months after unsubscribe to prevent abuse and resolve disputes, unless you request earlier deletion subject to legitimate interest requirements.

Third Parties / Processing

  • Analytics: Matomo is self-hosted on our own infrastructure.
  • Mailing List: We process subscriptions via our self-hosted automation (n8n) and store subscriber data in our database. If we use an email delivery provider (e.g., SMTP, SES, Mailgun), your email and basic delivery metadata may be processed by that provider solely to send messages and handle delivery events.

Security

Data is stored on servers controlled by It Runs Fine with access restricted to authorised personnel. While we take reasonable steps to protect data, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your Rights

Subject to local laws, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. For mailing list subscribers, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our emails. To make a privacy request, contact hello@itrunsfine.com.
